Program Description:

Accademia Riaci classes are focused on professional hands-on training, under the supervision of our skilled artisans/instructors. Our small-group classes enable participants to learn quickly and effectively, receiving individualized instructions and regular feedbacks from the teacher. In the professor/artisan laboratory, equipped with tables and tools, students will learn advanced technical knowledge of the materials and processing phases, as well as develop their aesthetic sensibilities while working on a wide variety of projects.

At our school we are dealing especially with wooden furniture. We customize the course according to your level, preference and goals. We keep the class small (max 8 students) in order to give you the most effective learning experience possible! Learning Stages: -At the beginning you will first learn the professional tools and how to utilize them. -Then you will project and actually create an inlaid table - Next, you will make a chessboard table; - The course focuses also on the study of materials (I.e. the characteristics of every type of wood, etc.) - Part of the program is dedicated to learning how to recognize and refinish antique -It is possible to perform some furniture restoration, learning the fundamentals of this technique, such as the Coating "Patinatura"(this is optional) WOOD CARVING Beginning woodcarving classes teach the basic skills needed to carve a variety of objects in wood. These may be both decorative woodcarvings and art or functional pieces such as bowls, spoons, signs, clocks, and such. The work is done using traditional hand carving tools. Students study in a warm and supportive environment - the Master's atelier - with other carvers old and young, beginning and experienced. Projects can vary from simple to complex, figurative to abstract and whimsical to functional. This diversity offers a rich artistic experience. Individuals enrolled in a basic wood carving program learn about popular types of wood and basic wood carving terminology. They also gain hands-on training in the following: *Woodworking safety *Types of wood carving tools *Using wood carving tools *Carving lettering and decorative designs *Types of wood finishes Woodcarving: this course allows students to develop advanced technical skills of woodcarving and elements of construction and assemblage. Specifically, students will learn tool handling techniques and maintenance, high-level carving methods (relief and 3D techniques, visual mapping and design elements), while developing an understanding of proportions and how to create realistic carvings.

Art visits on Fridays, Computer and Free Wifi available in the school building, English/Italian/Spanish interpreter service, Student support, Italian language lessons, Internship placement, collaboration with local companies/laboratories.
