Program Description:

L'ecole de Langue Francaise (ELF) is dedicated to teaching the French language in a fun and engaging way. It is located in Chicoutimi, Quebec, one of the most francophone areas in all of North America, making it a great place to master your French. The surrounding city and the beautiful Lac St.-Jean, foster the perfect environment for French social and cultural involvement. Both beginners and advanced speakers are welcome to this French immersion experience. All courses include exciting activities outside of the classroom, to enhance the cultural understanding and application of the language. Students are challenged to speak French 100 percent of the time in order to increase the speed of adapting to the language. Part of this experience is found through living with a French host family, although dormitories are available. By the time you have completed your semester, you may feel as if you have been speaking fluent French your whole life.

-Personalized language experiences that appeal to a wide array of learning styles. -Encourages continual use of French language both in and outside of the classroom. -Language placement exams. -Excursions throughout Quebec City, to Tadoussac (whale watching) and to Lac-St-Jean.

Setting Description:

Since its establishment in Chicoutimi in 1969, the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi has served the mostly French-speaking population of its area by offering over 80 degree and diploma programs to its 6,000 students.
