Oxford and Cambridge Universities are famous for their tutorial-style study sessions where a student, or small number of students, come prepared for tutorials and tutors ‘facilitate’ or ‘supervise’ these sessions through guided discussions and with a focus on encouraging students to think critically and learn interactively. Known as Supervisions at Cambridge, these sessions provide an excellent platform for problem solving and independent thinking. Heritage Summers at the University of Cambridge will ensure that tutorials offer students the chance to apply themselves. These sessions will be intensive and will be facilitated through selected readings and guided discussions by tutors who are all closely involved with research in the subject areas they teach. Tutors at Heritage Summers will be typically pursuing their doctoral research, or will have earned their doctorates, at the University of Cambridge or another prestigious institution of higher learning in the United Kingdom or North America.
