This program is offered in the summer for 5 weeks, semester for 12-14 weeks, or for the academic year. Host institute includes guest faculty from German institutes; Die Neue Schule. Subjects include: Architecture, Art history, Community service projects, Creative writing, Economics, Field study, Film studies, Fine arts, German language(beg/int/adv), History, Independent study, Photography, Political science/politics

Lexia in Berlin introduces students to the wide variety of visual and cultural encounters in Berlin, from the collections of images housed in its numerous museums and galleries, to its breadth of architecture that has shaped the city’s identity. As the site of a number of movements in visual culture, from Dada and photomontage to film propaganda, it is a perfect place to explore the role of the visual in cultural understanding.

柏林项目支持互动和对话框ue between Lexia participants and German faculty and students whenever possible. It also encourages participation in German community events, institutions and family life. No prior knowledge of German is required, as most coursework is in English. Language instruction during the first month of the program is taught intensively to help students develop the language skills and confidence to live and study in, and integrate themselves into, the German community.
Setting Description:
Berlin has been at the center of European history over the last two centuries. Now an historic world capital, the city has become a fascinating microcosm of the New Europe, marked by active involvement in the European Union and progressive social welfare policies but also by struggles with political extremism and tensions over immigration. Total focus on visual culture, film, the arts, music, photography, painting, creative writing, museum studies and sculpture.
