Program Overview

Program Description:

Volunteers who wish to participate in the medical or healthcare field in Kenya must have medical training and experience. They will work at a busy Nairobi hospital in wards such as casualty, maternity, pediatrics, surgery, and others. It is an extremely busy hospital that accepts patients from around Nairobi and further afield.

Volunteers work alongside the local staff who will assist with translations. Volunteers need to be ready to think outside of the square as the hospital has limited resources and equipment. For example, they do not have a sonogram.

In addition, all Medical volunteers will participate in community outreach programs during their stay. The outreach programs include assisting with HIV testing, school and orphanage awareness programs and crisis control which may see volunteers helping with jiggers’ eradication and community immunization programs.

This is a great opportunity for volunteers in the medical field to get hands-on experience in different areas of medical care and also to share learning and knowledge with local staff.

Setting Description:

Volunteers on this program are accommodated within our volunteer house where two meals are provided each day. Free time can be used to explore this amazing city, or go on one of the many safaris available in the region!

Cost:

LV Registration Fee + Programs Fees from just $235 for one week! USD. Included: Accommodation, 2 Meals per day, Airport Pickup, Orientation on Arrival and 24/7 In-Country Support.
