- Setting Description:
- The small city of Beppu is located in Oita Prefecture on Kyushu Island in the south of Japan. It boasts the world’s second-largest outflow of hot springs in the world (after Yellowstone) as well as dramatic natural scenery and old-style Japanese architecture. Despite its old-world charms, however, modern Beppu has a lively downtown of narrow streets, shrines, and shops.
