Program Overview

Program Description:
Teach Music at a school in the largest city in New Zealand, Auckland. You'll work with children from all backgrounds, including Maori children and refugee children from underprivileged countries such as Somalia, Ethiopia and the South Pacific islands. You'll work closely with the children in small groups, as an Assistant Music Teacher, as well as with the school choir to help them as much as possible with their music - this is where you can make a lot of difference. This is a rewarding and satisfying project - and also a lot of fun!

你将工作在奥克兰的一个学校,largest city in New Zealand. Auckland is known as the city of sails and is surrounded by beautiful islands and extinct volcanoes. In New Zealand at the moment there is a shortage of teachers, this project will enable people who are possible thinking about moving permanently to New Zealand to do teaching with the opportunity to get a taste of it before deciding. You will work as an assistant teacher to the music teacher. The school has a large number of ethnic children who are classed as the under privileged community in Auckland. There are children from many different communities and countries at the school such as Maori, Somalia, Ethiopia, Tonga and Samoa. These children come from lower economic social backgrounds areas of Auckland and are not as fortunate as other children - this is where your teaching can make a difference. You will be working as an assistant to the teacher, you'll have the opportunity to work one-to-one and in small groups with the children to assist them with their music and really give them the attention they need. Class sizes vary between 20 and 30 children in each class and you will be teaching children between the ages of 4 and 12. As an assistant music teacher at the school you will be involved in teaching a number of different instruments and groups: • Guitar • Recorder • Instrumental • Keyboards/Piano • Choir • Instrumental group
