Program Overview

Program Description:

Attend high school in Brazil during YFU's semester or year abroad program. You'll meet local students and better acquaint yourself with the Portuguese language as well as Brazilian customs. During your homestay experience, you'll learn what day-to-day life is like for Brazilians and be welcomed into a supportive family. Enjoy a still-summery February and the beautiful Brazilian beeches and forests. Outside the classroom, Brazil offers a world of adventure to explore.

Looking for a shorter term experience? Spend 6 weeks in Brazil as a part of the "Discover Brazil" program. Have an amazing summer by making local friends, exploring Brazilian culture, and immersing yourself in the Portuguese language. Discover daily life in Brazil and make bonds with your host family and friends that can last well beyond your stay. Summer students may shadow a local student in school, but will not be enrolled.

Youth For Understanding USA's (YFU) high school study abroad program is an experience that will immerse you in the lives, language, cultures, and communities of a real family in one of more than 40 countries around the globe. YFU is a homestay experience where you live with a carefully selected host family, make new friends, and even attend a new school on academic programs. Previous language study is not required.

YFU programs make lasting, life-changing impact on young people.
